Hi, I’m James. I’m a DevSecOps engineer, having previously been a developer and systems administrator over the years.

Ever since about the age of 13, coding has been my hobby. There’s a unique sense of accomplishment in build things from simple lines of code into fully working projects. My first significant project involved a local museum’s archaic pen-and-paper system into a digital database - and this was done when I was 15!

I started working full time when I was 17, undertaking contract work in various local IT roles. This period of my career had me working for several small businesses, as a jack-of-all-trades in the IT department.

Later on, the task of building systems became my chief focus and expertise, along with ensuring security measures were in place. To this end, security systems like pfSense found their way into every workspace I was associated with!

In 2019, I stepped into an DevOps role (which made sense, as having been both a developer and systems administrator over the year), # overseeing the transformation of an entire single-account, virtual machine based monolithic architecture to a multi-account setup based on microservices, on Kubernetes.

I’m sharing my thoughts and opinions through this blog, hoping to share some knowledge with various aspects of DevSecOps.
